Normally dresses for women in south are sari and a blouse. A sari is generally a long colorful cloth of 5 meter with prints and designs on it which is enfolded around the waist with pleats till the ankles and a blouse is worn on top. The affluent colors of a sari symbolize the colorful tradition of the motherland it derives from. A sari not only increases beauty but also creates a feeling of mystery. Due to all these reasons majority of many other Indian women irrespective of caste and creed prefer wearing sari as their outfit. Women in West Bengal also embellish any occasion through their saris. The saris are accessible in extensive range of fabrics and cost.

Dresses for women in North Indian are mainly Shalwar kameez. The kameez contains many patterns, like full or half sleeves with different cuts and finishes all over. A shalwar is a type of loose trouser which is tied with a cord at the waist. The shalwar kameez grant women with self-determination.
Dresses for women in Rajasthan are Ghagra choli. A ghagra is normally a loose skirt that is tied up till the ankles whereas choli is a blouse. At times women wear attractive backless blouse. Ghagra choli is beneficial in desert region like Rajasthan and are available in boutiques in rising demand.
Muslim women in India accept dresses according to the province they reside. However they add burkha or hijaab with their outfits.
