Different Uses for Hair Scissors
Hair scissors are handy around the house. They are good to use for more things than just cutting someone’s hair. They can be used in emergency wound care. They can be used to fix up last minute gifts. Hair scissors can even be used for minor plumbing issues.
If someone gets a cut or a bad scrape, it needs to be taken care of immediately. Don’t worry if there are no first aid scissors in your first aid kit. Use hair scissors to cut off the amount of gauze you need to cover the wound. If some of the skin is loose and needs to be removed, carefully cut that away. This is much easier to do with hair scissors than regular sewing scissors. Then use the scissors to cut the tape needed to hold the gauze in place.
Last minute gifts can create stress if there are no scissors handy to use while wrapping them. Hair scissors will work to cut the wrapping paper to fit around the box the gift is going into. Any type of tape can be used if the scissors are used to cut off the amount needed. Then draw a piece of ribbon across the edge. These ribbon curls can be used to decorate the gift in place of bows.
Hair scissors come in handy in minor plumbing problems. Sometimes a ball of hair will clog up right at the drain in the tub or sink. Use the scissors to get a grip on the hair to pull it out. Hair scissors are thin enough and long enough to reach down into the drain with the ends slightly open. Once the tips are at the hairball, close them back up. It will close onto the hair and allow it to be pulled right out.
